Finding Yourself in Greece—One Adventure at a Time
Karen, a solo traveller in Greece, had alwasy had this country close to her heart. Her inicial goal her was to volunteer in Crete. So she dicided to combine this with the oportunity to explore Greece further and discover new places.
Santorini: Wine, Sunsets, and Solo Serenity
Her journey began in Santorini. Aftert two week well spent in Crete, She arrived by boat and headed straight into a wine-filled afternoon.
On a five-hour wine tour, Karen explored cave-like wine cellars and old tomato factories. These unique stops told the story of the island’s winemaking past. She tasted local Assyrtiko wines, paired with a delicious four-course lunch. The sea views and volcanic backdrops added to the charm.
The next day, she joined a full sunset cruise. First, she swam in hot springs. Then, she sailed past dramatic cliffs, historic lighthouses, and the stunning White and Red beaches. A Greek BBQ onboard turned the trip into a floating feast. To end the day, she visited the island’s highest peak during sunset. It was a perfect solo moment—quiet, breathtaking, and unforgettable.
Paros: Villages, Islands, and Shared Smiles
After Santorini, Karen traveled to Paros. Her first day was a full island tour, filled with local stories and architecture. She walked through the old town of Parikia, visited historic churches, and saw the famous Church of 100 Doors. Later, she ferried to Antiparos, exploring narrow lanes and a Venetian castle.
The tour continued through southern Paros. Small villages and fishing harbors led her to Piso Livadi, where she enjoyed free time by the sea. That afternoon, she wandered through Lefkes and ended her day in Naoussa—a harbor village known for charm and energy.
The next day, she sailed again. This time, on a motor yacht to Pantheronissia and Despotiko. The sea was clear and calm. Karen swam in turquoise bays, explored caves, and relaxed on hidden beaches. Traditional Greek dishes were served on board. Every stop added another postcard-worthy memory.
Her third Paros cruise took her to Naxos and Koufonisia. Aboard a wooden boat, she explored quiet beaches and even saw dolphins. The BBQ on board included souvlaki, salads, and local wine. It was a full-day escape into the hidden gems of the Cyclades.
Athens: Ancient History Meets Modern Flavor
Karen ended her solo trip in Athens. A short ferry brought her to the capital, where she spent her final days diving into Greek history and culture.
First, she joined a full-day tour to Nafplio, Mycenae, and Epidauros. She saw the famous Lion’s Gate, ancient tombs, and the grand theatre with its perfect acoustics. A photo stop in Nafplio, Greece’s first capital, added a modern twist to this ancient day.
Back in Athens, Karen joined a half-day city tour. It covered key landmarks like the Acropolis, the Olympic Stadium, and the New Acropolis Museum. These icons reminded her how timeless the city truly is.
