This scenic walk will take you through the seasonal creeks around Katapola, leading to the Valsamitis convent and back to the bay, all while passing peaceful pastures. We’ll meet at the Katapola bus stop and start by following the rural road through the fertile Katapola valley. We’ll veer off towards the reservoir, circle around it, and then ascend a marked path alongside one of the area’s seasonal creeks. Along the way, we’ll pass old rural complexes before heading towards the Byzantine convent of Agios Georgios Valsamitis, built over the ruins of an ancient water oracle.

After visiting the convent, we’ll begin our return walk along the southern part of the marked path. We’ll pass by springs and enjoy stunning views of Naxos and the Small Cyclades Islands. As we approach Minoa, one of Amorgos’ most important archaeological sites, we’ll continue downhill toward Katapola. Our last stop will be the botanical park, where we’ll learn about the local flora in a peaceful setting before finishing the walk at the port of Katapola.
