Departing from the Port: A Scenic Drive Through the Countryside

The journey begins as the coach leaves the port. Soon, you are in the lush Corfiot countryside. Corfu is the most verdant of all the Greek islands. The drive takes you through groves of orange, lemon, and cypress trees, along with olive orchards. Fields are carpeted with wildflowers, making it feel like a garden created by the gods.

Arriving at the Traditional Village of Gastouri

After about 20 minutes, you reach the village of Gastouri. Here, you visit the Achilleion Palace, built in 1891 by Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sissy). Later, the palace was owned by Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. Inside, you explore the palace’s rooms and beautiful gardens. From the gardens, you get spectacular views of the Ionian Sea. The gardens are filled with exotic trees and flowers from the Empress’s travels. They also feature statues from Greek mythology. Notable statues include “Achilles Victorious” and “Achilles Dying”.

Passing by Perama and Scenic Views of Mouse Island

After the palace, the coach heads toward Corfu Town, passing through Perama. From here, you’ll see the Convent of Vlacherna and Mouse Island. This is the most photographed view on the island. Don’t miss the chance to take a photo.

Exploring Corfu Town: A Walking Tour of the Historic Old Quarter

In Corfu Town, the coach drops you off at the Old Venetian Fortress (14th century). It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide takes you on a walking tour through the old town.

Wandering the Venetian Streets and Cricket Grounds

You’ll walk through narrow, cobbled streets, known as “kandounia”. These streets are part of Corfu’s Venetian heritage. You will pass by the Royal Palace of St. George & St. Michael, built with yellow Maltese stone. Then, you visit the Liston Piazza, designed by the French in the 19th century. You’ll also see the cricket grounds, a British tradition on the island.

Visiting Saint Spiridon Church and the Old Town

Next, you’ll visit the Church of Saint Spiridon. This church is 300 years old and is home to priceless icons and gifts. You’ll walk through the flea market and pass by the Town Hall. The tour ends in the busy shopping district. Here, you’ll have free time to shop.

Return Transfer to Your Ship

After exploring Corfu’s beauty and history, you board the coach for the return transfer to the port.
