Paxi are little islands in greek Ionian sea situated south of Corfu island is a perfect island-hopping base. Because of its small size, Paxi has only three little seaside villages, Gaios, Lakka and Logos. Many private yachts and fishing boats moor at the ports of these villages during the summer, giving a cosmopolitan feel to the island. In these villages, you’ll find many Paxi hotels, traditional taverns, and other facilities. Most of Paxi beaches are located on the eastern and northern parts of the island and can easily be reached. Right opposite to Paxi are even more gorgeous beaches lie on Antipaxos island. To get to Antipaxos island, you should get one of the daily boats that depart from Gaios port in Paxi. According to the myth, Poseidon heat Corfu and creat this islands to live their his love with Amfitriti. He lost his trident and the Paxians find it and make it their symbol with two dolfins right and left. Naval battle of the Paxes at 229 e.g. between Illyrian pirates and Kekyraeans take place in front of Paxi. Giorgos Anemoyiannis is from Paxos who is a national hero of Greece in the revolution of 1821 as an arsonist.

How to get there?

The only way to reach Paxi is by ferry. Ferries depart from Corfu and Igoumenitsa port on the mainland. The nearest airport is on Corfu island. Additionally, there are day tours available from Corfu and Parga.
