This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).
Experience the stunning contrasts of Athens on this full-day tour, combining history, culture, and scenic beauty. Led by an expert guide, you’ll explore some of the city’s most iconic landmarks and monuments, beginning with a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 (short stop).
Next, pass by famous sights including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and Syntagma Square.
Your journey continues at the Acropolis, where you’ll marvel at the architectural masterpieces of Athens’ Golden Age: the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and of course, the iconic Parthenon—a symbol of ancient Greece’s harmony between material and spirit. Then, discover the wonders of the classical era at the new Acropolis Museum, where many of the original statues from the Acropolis now reside.
After exploring these incredible historical sites, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor traditional Greek cuisine.
In the afternoon, drive along the scenic coastal road, passing the stunning beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza before arriving at the southernmost point of Attica—Cape Sounion. Here, stand in awe before the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon as you take in panoramic views of the Saronic Gulf and the nearby islands.
After your visit to the Temple of Poseidon, enjoy some free time to walk along the rocky promontory and soak in the spectacular surroundings.
Please note: Due to visiting hours at the new Acropolis Museum, the order of the itinerary may vary.
Service Available: April to October, daily.
