Sifnos belongs to the western Cyclades in the Aegean sea. Τhe island is known for its pottery and cooking, indeed it is the birthplace of Nick Tselemendes, a top chef of the 20th century. Sifnos consists of four mountain ranges, many acropolises and has rich mineral wealth. One of the best things to do there is to visit its quaint villages, especially if you want to experience the essence of the island. Kastro, Artemonas and the capital town Apollonia are total musts. Get lost in the narrow alleys of Kastro, eat the best local pastries in Artemonas and have a taste of the cosmopolitan side of the island. Take a dip at Chrisopigi beach, under the homonymous whitewashed church, at the cosmopolitan Platis Gialos or at the sandy Vathi beach, followed by a seafood meal, or visit Kamares beach, where the island’s port lies. Ideal for families and couples.
