Kythira is the island located south of the Peloponnese. Τhe island has been associated with the goddess Venus. It has interesting architecture and several attractions such as Paleochora which is the ruined Byzantine capital. Avlemonas is a picturesque fishing village where the sandy beach of Palaiopolis is located near the traditional village. Other seaside destinations that you should visit are Agia Pelagia which has a special tourist traffic, Kapsali built on twin bays and Diakofti with its picturesque beaches on a plain is the port of the island.

Kythira has a national airport with daily flights from Athens. The island is also accessible by ferry from Piraeus Port in Athens, as well as from the ports of Gythio and Neapolis in the Peloponnese and Kissamos in Crete.
