Athens is famous for its ancient monuments, vibrant neighbourhoods and Mediterranean lifestyle, but it is also an excellent destination for retail therapy. Whether you are looking for international fashion brands, luxury boutiques, Greek designers, affordable souvenirs or discounted designer clothing, shopping in Athens offers something for every taste and budget.

From the lively city centre to modern shopping malls and open-air outlet villages, here is your guide to where to shop in Athens and how to make the most of your time.

1. Ermou Street: The Heart of Shopping in Athens

If you want to experience shopping in central Athens, start with Ermou Street, the city’s best-known commercial shopping street. Connecting Syntagma Square with the Monastiraki area, this busy pedestrian thoroughfare is lined with international fashion chains, shoe shops, beauty stores and accessories boutiques.

Ermou is ideal for travellers who want to combine shopping with sightseeing. You can browse familiar brands, stop for a Greek coffee and explore nearby streets before continuing towards Plaka or Monastiraki.

For a more traditional shopping experience, venture into the surrounding lanes for leather sandals, handmade jewellery, Greek souvenirs and independent shops. This combination makes the city centre a great choice for a flexible shopping afternoon.

2. The Best Shopping Malls in Athens

Athens has several modern shopping centres where visitors can enjoy fashion, dining, entertainment and convenient facilities under one roof.

The Mall Athens

Located in Marousi, next to Neratziotissa railway and metro connections, The Mall Athens is one of the city’s most popular shopping destinations. Its extensive selection of international brands, restaurants, cafés and cinema facilities makes it suitable for a full shopping day.

Choose this mall for variety, family-friendly entertainment and the convenience of having everything in one place.

Golden Hall

For a more premium shopping experience, head to Golden Hall, also located in Marousi, near the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. Its sophisticated setting features designer fashion, jewellery, beauty, homeware and upscale dining.

Golden Hall is particularly suitable for travellers interested in luxury labels, premium brands and a more refined shopping atmosphere.

Athens Metro Mall

Situated directly beside Agios Dimitrios metro station, Athens Metro Mall is a convenient option for visitors staying in southern Athens or travelling by public transport.

It offers fashion and lifestyle stores, cafés, restaurants and entertainment facilities. Its manageable size makes it a practical choice when you want a straightforward shopping trip without spending an entire day in a huge complex.

River West

Located in western Athens, near Kifisou Avenue and IKEA, River West combines fashion, homeware, electronics, dining and leisure. It is worth considering if you are staying in the western suburbs or prefer to combine clothing shopping with household and lifestyle purchases.

Avenue Mall

In Marousi, Avenue Mall offers a practical mix of fashion, children’s products, home essentials, cafés and everyday shopping. It is especially useful for families and visitors who prefer a more functional shopping destination rather than a luxury-focused mall.

Smart Park

For open-air shopping, Smart Park in Spata offers a different atmosphere, with spacious walkways, retail stores, dining options and family entertainment. Its location beside Designer Outlet Athens makes it easy to combine both destinations in one outing.

3. Designer Outlet Athens (McArthurGlen): Shopping for Less

If discounted brands are on your shopping list, Designer Outlet Athens, formerly widely known as McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Athens, deserves a place in your itinerary.

Located in Spata, close to Athens International Airport, this open-air shopping village features a selection of international and Greek brands across fashion, footwear, sportswear and accessories. Outlet prices and available discounts vary by brand, season and stock, so it is worth browsing before making your final purchases.

The outdoor layout, cafés and nearby Smart Park make it suitable for a relaxed shopping break rather than a quick visit to a conventional mall.

Another option for outlet shopping is Factory Outlet, with locations in the Piraeus area and near the airport. These are worth considering if you are searching for discounted clothing, shoes and sportswear.

4. Where to Find Unique Greek Products

Shopping in Athens is not only about international brands. To discover more local character, explore Monastiraki, where flea-market lanes offer souvenirs, leather goods, vintage finds and decorative items.

Nearby Plaka is ideal for browsing Greek gifts, ceramics, jewellery and traditional products. For luxury boutiques and Greek designer fashion, consider Kolonaki, an elegant neighbourhood known for upscale shopping, independent labels and stylish cafés.

These areas are excellent for finding something distinctive to take home while experiencing a different side of the city.

5. Combine Shopping with Your Athens Airport Transfer

Have an evening flight but need to check out of your hotel early? You do not necessarily have to spend the remaining hours waiting at the airport.

A visit to Designer Outlet Athens can be a practical addition to your departure day, thanks to its location in Spata, near Athens International Airport.

With a pre-arranged private departure transfer, you can plan a shopping stop after hotel check-out and before heading to the airport. Your driver can remain at your disposal during the agreed stop and then take you directly to the airport for your flight.

This option allows you to enjoy a final shopping experience without arranging separate transportation for your luggage and shopping bags. The stop should be scheduled around your flight time, airport check-in requirements and traffic conditions.

For travellers with limited time, it is a convenient way to make the most of the last day in Athens.

6. Practical Tips for Shopping in Athens

Before heading out, keep a few points in mind:

Plan your route: Ermou Street is ideal for central shopping, while the major malls and outlets are spread across different suburbs.

Check opening hours: Retail hours vary by destination, day and season. Many conventional shops close on Sundays, although selected destinations and seasonal shopping Sundays may differ.

Allow enough time: Large malls and outlet villages can easily occupy several hours, especially when you include lunch or coffee.

Consider transportation: Metro connections are convenient for several malls, while a private transfer can simplify trips involving luggage, multiple destinations or airport departures.

Make Shopping Part of Your Athens Experience

From the lively storefronts of Ermou Street to the premium boutiques of Golden Hall and the outlet bargains at Designer Outlet Athens, shopping in Athens can be as varied as the city itself.

Whether you have a few hours between sightseeing activities or want to dedicate an entire day to retail therapy, choosing the right shopping area will help you save time and enjoy your visit.

And if your flight leaves later in the day, consider arranging a private departure transfer with a shopping stop near the airport. It is a simple way to enjoy a little more of Athens before saying goodbye to the city.

Discover Greek island hopping tips and learn how ferry cancellations, bad weather, and expert travel support can save time and money.

Greece is one of the most popular destinations for island hopping. From the whitewashed villages of the Cyclades to the beaches of the Ionian Islands, there is so much to explore. But travelling between Greek islands does not always go according to plan.

Weather conditions can change quickly. Strong winds can cause ferry delays and cancellations, even during the summer months. These changes can affect your itinerary, increase your costs, and take valuable time away from your holiday.

So, how can you avoid these problems? And how can a travel agent or Destination Management Company (DMC) help you travel with greater peace of mind?

The Best Time for Greek Island Hopping

The main season for Greek island hopping usually runs from May to October. During these months, ferry connections are more frequent, and travellers have more options when planning their trips.

However, good weather is never guaranteed.

Strong winds, known as meltemia, often affect the Aegean Sea during the summer. When conditions become difficult, ferry companies may delay or cancel their services.

Some seasons bring more disruptions than others. This can create serious challenges for travellers with several islands on their itinerary.

Imagine travelling from Athens to Mykonos, then Santorini, before returning to Athens for your flight home. If one ferry gets cancelled, your entire schedule could change.

You might need another ticket, an extra hotel night, or a new transfer. In some cases, you could even risk missing your international flight.

That is why planning a Greek island-hopping trip requires more than booking ferry tickets and accommodation. It also requires flexibility and a plan for unexpected changes.

What Happens When a Ferry Gets Cancelled?

A ferry cancellation can create a chain of problems.

You may need to find another departure, contact your hotel, change your transfer, or rearrange your next destination. If many travellers face the same problem, available seats can quickly become limited.

For visitors unfamiliar with Greece, managing these changes can be stressful. You may need to check several ferry companies and compare different routes. You also need to make decisions quickly to avoid further delays.

This is where an experienced travel partner can help.

How a DMC Helps You Manage Ferry Cancellations

As a Destination Management Company in Greece, we know that a successful holiday involves much more than making bookings. We also need to help our clients when travel plans change.

Our in-house ferry ticketing and issuance system allows us to monitor bookings and respond quickly to schedule changes. When a cancellation or delay affects an itinerary, our team can assess the available options and arrange alternative connections.

Instead of leaving our clients to contact different ferry companies and search for new tickets, we help manage the process.

We look for the most practical solution based on availability, travel time, and the rest of the itinerary. We also consider how one change might affect hotel stays, transfers, and onward journeys.

Our goal is simple: to save our clients time, reduce unnecessary costs, and keep their holidays on track.

We cannot control the weather or prevent every cancellation. However, we can help our clients respond quickly and make better decisions when problems arise.

When Flying May Be a Better Option

Ferries are a wonderful way to explore the Greek islands. But when weather conditions become challenging, flying may offer a better alternative.

If forecasts suggest a higher risk of disruption, we can review the itinerary and consider other transport options. Depending on the route and availability, a domestic flight may help our clients reach their next destination without waiting for another ferry.

For example, if a ferry cancellation puts the next stage of a trip at risk, we can check whether a flight offers a more practical solution.

Not every island has a direct flight to every other island. Flights can also face delays and cancellations. That is why we assess each situation individually before recommending a change.

Sometimes, adjusting one connection early can prevent a much bigger problem later.

By monitoring travel conditions and planning ahead, we aim to help our clients avoid unnecessary waiting times, extra hotel nights, and missed connections.

Does Booking Through a Travel Agent Cost More?

Many travellers assume that booking everything themselves will save money. At first glance, this may seem true.

However, the initial price is only part of the total cost of a holiday.

What happens if your ferry gets cancelled? You may need to buy another ticket, pay for an extra night at a hotel, or arrange a new transfer. If you miss a flight, the costs could be even higher.

There is also the time you spend finding solutions. Searching for alternative routes, contacting suppliers, and changing several bookings can take hours.

A professional travel agent or DMC offers more than booking services. You also benefit from local knowledge, practical advice, and support when plans change.

With an in-house ticketing system and a team that understands the Greek travel network, we can identify alternatives and help our clients act quickly.

Of course, no travel agent can guarantee perfect weather or prevent every disruption. But having an experienced team on your side can make a real difference when unexpected problems arise.

Enjoy Greece with a Smarter Travel Plan

Greek island hopping remains one of the best ways to discover Greece. With the right itinerary and realistic travel times, you can enjoy a wonderful holiday across several islands.

Our advice is to plan ahead, allow enough time between connections, and stay flexible. It is also worth considering alternative transport options when weather conditions become difficult.

At our DMC, we combine local expertise with in-house ferry ticketing and proactive travel planning. We monitor changes, review available options, and help our clients find practical solutions when disruptions occur.

Because a great holiday is not just about making the right bookings. It is also about having the right support when things do not go according to plan.

Planning a Greek island-hopping holiday? Contact our team to create a well-organised itinerary with expert local support. We will help you explore Greece with greater confidence, even when travel plans need to change.

Ready to join the elite group of travelers discovering Greece on their own terms? We invite you to explore our bespoke travel packages for more inspiration.

Travelers will have more options to reach Greece in 2027. New flights to Greece will strengthen air links between Athens and North America.

Delta Air Lines will launch a new nonstop route between Detroit and Athens in June 2027. At the same time, Air Canada will extend its direct Athens services further into the winter.

The changes highlight continued demand for travel between Greece and North America.

Delta Launches Detroit–Athens Flights

Delta will start nonstop flights between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Athens International Airport on June 8, 2027.

The seasonal service will operate three times per week. Flights will run through October 28, 2027.

The new route will make Detroit Delta’s fourth U.S. gateway to Athens. The airline already serves Athens from New York-JFK, Atlanta and Boston.

The new service will also give travelers in Southeast Michigan their first nonstop connection to Athens.

The route will strengthen access to Greece for travelers across the wider Midwest. Passengers will also have connecting options through Delta’s Detroit hub.

Delta says travelers can connect from more than 40 U.S. destinations through Detroit. This will give passengers across the airline’s domestic network another option for reaching Athens.

Athens Becomes a Major Delta Destination From Detroit

The new Athens service will expand Delta’s international network from Detroit.

During the peak summer season, Athens will become Delta’s 12th long-haul destination from Detroit. It will also become the airline’s seventh destination in continental Europe from the hub.

Delta plans to operate the route with an Airbus A330-200.

The aircraft will offer four cabin options. These include Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.

The new Detroit–Athens service will therefore add another direct link between Greece and the United States during the busy summer travel period.

Delta Expands Its European Network

The Detroit–Athens route is part of a wider European expansion for Delta in 2027.

The airline will also launch Boston–Venice flights on May 7. The service will operate four times per week through October 29.

Delta has also announced daily Austin–Paris flights. That service is scheduled to begin on March 27, 2027.

The airline is also adjusting several existing European routes. Some seasonal services will start earlier in spring. Others will continue later into autumn and winter.

These changes will give travelers more options when planning European trips outside the traditional summer peak.

Air Canada Extends Athens Service

North American airlines are also adding more capacity to Athens.

Air Canada is extending its direct Athens services into the winter period. The airline will operate flights between Athens and its Canadian hubs in Toronto and Montreal.

The move will provide Greek travelers with more direct access to Canada and onward connections across North America.

Air Canada has also highlighted its use of widebody aircraft on the routes. The extended schedule will support both leisure and business travel.

The airline says its longer operating season will also help support travel during traditionally quieter months.

Strong Demand From the North American Market

The expansion comes as Athens continues to see strong demand from North America.

Athens International Airport data showed that Air Canada’s direct Athens passenger traffic rose 13.5% in January-August 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.

Canada ranked as Athens’ ninth-largest international tourism market during the first eight months of 2026. It was also the airport’s second-largest long-haul market.

Overall traffic between Canada and Athens increased 6.7% during the same period.

AIA data also showed that 26.5% of Air Canada’s Athens traffic originated in the United States. This highlights the role of Canadian hubs in connecting U.S. travelers with Greece.

More Ways to Reach Greece

The new Detroit–Athens route will give travelers in the U.S. Midwest a direct option for reaching the Greek capital.

Air Canada’s extended schedule will provide more travel options between Greece and Canada. Its network also offers connections for travelers from the United States.

Together, these developments will strengthen Athens’ links with the wider North American market.

For travelers planning a trip to Greece in 2027, the expansion means more routes, more connections and greater flexibility across the year.

If you are visiting Greece from outside the European Union, you may be able to get some of the VAT (Value Added Tax) you paid on your shopping back when you leave the country.

For many tourists, the VAT refund process can seem confusing at first. There are forms to complete, receipts to keep, and airport procedures to follow. The good news is that the process is actually quite straightforward once you know what to do.

In this guide, we explain how the VAT refund in Greece works for tourists, what you need to do when shopping, what happens at the airport, and some important mistakes to avoid.

Who Can Get a VAT Refund in Greece?

The Greek VAT refund system is generally available to travelers who live outside the European Union and are visiting Greece temporarily.

This means that if you are a resident of countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or another non-EU country, you may be eligible.

Your eligibility is based on your place of residence, not simply the passport you carry.

For example, someone who holds a non-EU passport but is officially resident in an EU country may not qualify under the same rules.

The goods you purchase must also be intended for personal use and must leave the European Union with you.

What Is VAT?

VAT stands for Value Added Tax. It is a consumption tax included in the price of most goods and services sold in Greece.

The standard VAT rate in Greece is 24%, although some products and services can be subject to lower rates.

When you buy something as a tourist, VAT is normally included in the price you pay. Under the tax-free shopping system, eligible visitors can claim back some of the VAT on qualifying purchases when they take those goods out of the EU.

It is important to understand that you will not necessarily receive the entire VAT amount back. Tax-free shopping companies and other applicable charges can reduce the final refund.

Step 1: Ask for Tax-Free Shopping When You Buy

The first step happens in the shop.

Before paying, ask the retailer whether they offer Tax Free Shopping or a VAT refund for tourists.

Not every shop participates in the scheme, so it is a good idea to ask before making an expensive purchase.

You will generally need to show your passport or other required travel documentation.

The shop will provide you with the necessary documentation, which can include your receipt and a Tax Free form. Depending on the retailer, the refund may be processed through a tax-free shopping operator such as Global Blue, Planet or another provider.

Make sure the information on the form is correct before leaving the shop.

Is There a Minimum Purchase Amount?

There are rules regarding the minimum purchase value and eligibility of purchases for VAT refunds.

The exact requirements can change, so travelers should check the current rules and the conditions shown on their Tax Free documentation.

If you are planning to make a large purchase specifically because you want to claim the VAT back, it is worth asking the retailer about the current minimum and refund conditions before paying.

Keep Your Receipts and Tax-Free Documents

This sounds obvious, but it is one of the most important parts of the process.

Keep together:

Your original receipts

Your Tax Free forms

Your passport

Your boarding pass or flight information

The goods you purchased

Do not throw away the packaging or receipts until the VAT refund process is completely finished.

Most importantly, keep the goods accessible when you go to the airport.

Customs authorities can ask to see the products you purchased before approving the VAT refund.

Step 2: Go to the Airport Early

When you are leaving Greece, give yourself extra time at the airport if you have VAT refund documents.

The process can take longer than simply checking in and going through security, particularly during busy travel periods.

This is especially important during the summer months, when Greek airports can be extremely busy.

If you have several Tax Free purchases, arriving early gives you time to deal with any questions or inspections without worrying about missing your flight.

Step 3: Get Your Purchases Validated

At the airport, you need to have your Tax Free documents validated according to the applicable customs procedure.

This is an important step because the authorities need to confirm that the goods are actually leaving the European Union.

You may be asked to present the products themselves.

For this reason, do not automatically pack your Tax Free purchases into checked luggage before completing the required validation if you may need to show them to Customs.

If the goods are inside your checked suitcase, it can make the process much more difficult.

If you are unsure what to do, ask the airport staff before checking your luggage.

What If You Are Connecting Through Another EU Country?

This is one of the most important things to understand about VAT refunds.

Your final departure from the European Union matters.

For example, imagine that you are traveling:

New York → Athens → New York

In this situation, Athens is where you leave the EU, so you can generally complete the required VAT refund validation in Greece.

But imagine your journey is:

New York → Athens → Paris → New York

You are still inside the European Union when you leave Greece because Paris is another EU destination.

In this type of itinerary, the relevant customs validation may need to take place at your final EU departure airport, in this example Paris.

This is why it is important to know your entire itinerary before going to the airport.

How Do You Receive the VAT Refund?

Once your Tax Free documentation has been properly validated, the refund is processed according to the method and provider associated with your purchase.

Depending on the retailer and Tax Free operator, the refund may be available through different payment methods.

The amount you receive will depend on several factors, including:

The amount you spent

The VAT rate applicable to the purchase

The Tax Free provider

Processing or administration fees

The method used to receive the refund

Because of these fees, you should not assume that you will receive the full VAT amount included in the purchase price.

What Purchases Qualify for a VAT Refund?

The VAT refund system is generally designed for goods that you purchase in Greece and take out of the EU with you.

Typical examples can include:

Clothing

Shoes

Jewelry

Watches

Electronics

Souvenirs

Other eligible retail products

However, not every purchase or service qualifies.

For example, you generally cannot claim a tourist VAT refund simply because you stayed at a Greek hotel or ate at a Greek restaurant.

The system is focused on eligible goods that are exported from the EU by the traveler.

Common VAT Refund Mistakes to Avoid

A few simple mistakes can cause problems at the airport.

Forgetting to ask for the Tax Free form

If you leave the shop without the required documentation, getting the refund later may be difficult or impossible.

Putting your purchases in checked luggage too early

If Customs wants to inspect your purchases, you need to be able to show them.

Arriving at the airport at the last minute

VAT refund procedures can take additional time, particularly during busy travel periods.

Losing your receipts

Keep all receipts and Tax Free documents together until the refund has been completed.

Assuming every shop offers tax-free shopping

Always ask the retailer before purchasing.

Forgetting about your connecting flight

If you are traveling through another EU country before leaving the EU, check where your VAT documents need to be validated.

How Much Money Can You Get Back?

This is probably the question most tourists ask.

The answer depends on your purchase and the specific tax-free refund arrangement.

Although Greece has a standard VAT rate of 24%, this does not mean that a tourist simply receives 24% of the amount they paid.

The VAT is included in the retail price, and the calculation of the VAT component is different from simply multiplying the final price by 24%. In addition, refund operators can charge fees.

Therefore, the amount shown on your Tax Free documentation is the best indication of the refund you should expect.

A Simple Example

Imagine you buy an eligible item in Greece for €500.

The price includes VAT.

You ask the shop for a Tax Free form and receive the necessary documentation.

When you leave the EU, you present your documents and, if requested, the goods to Customs.

Once the transaction is validated, the refund is processed.

You will receive the amount calculated by the applicable Tax Free provider, after any relevant fees.

The important point is that you should look at the estimated refund shown on your Tax Free paperwork, rather than assuming that you will receive the full VAT rate.

Final Tips for a Smooth VAT Refund in Greece

If you want to make the process as easy as possible, remember these simple rules:

Ask before you buy. Make sure the shop participates in the Tax Free scheme.

Take your passport. You will generally need your travel documentation when completing the tax-free purchase.

Keep everything. Save your receipts and Tax Free forms.

Keep the goods accessible. Customs may need to inspect them.

Arrive early. Give yourself extra time at the airport.

Know your route. If you connect through another EU country, your final EU departure point can be important.

Check your refund details. The amount you receive can be reduced by applicable fees.

VAT Refund in Greece: The Easy Version

If all of the details above seem complicated, here is the process in its simplest form:

1. Shop at a participating Tax Free retailer.

2. Show your passport and ask for the Tax Free paperwork.

3. Keep your receipts, forms and purchases.

4. At the airport, complete the required Customs validation before leaving the EU.

5. Show your purchases if Customs asks to inspect them.

6. Submit the validated documentation according to the Tax Free provider’s instructions.

7. Receive your refund through the available payment method.

The most important thing is to plan the VAT refund before you arrive at the airport. Keep your documents organized, allow extra time and make sure you know where you will officially leave the European Union.

That way, you can enjoy your shopping in Greece without turning your last few minutes at the airport into a stressful experience.

Sumathy and Geetha traveled to Greece with their husbands for a wonderful journey filled with food, culture, wine and island experiences. Their route took them from Athens to Crete and Santorini.

Along the way, they discovered a different side of Greece at every stop.

Discovering Athens Through Food and History

Their Greek adventure began in Athens.

The city offered plenty to explore. They wandered through the historic center and enjoyed an introduction to Greek cuisine. Food gave them a delicious way to connect with local culture.

Of course, the Acropolis was one of their highlights. They explored the famous hill and visited the Acropolis Museum. Together, these experiences brought ancient Athens to life.

Later, they headed toward Cape Sounion. As the day came to an end, they watched the sunset beside the Temple of Poseidon.

The combination of ancient history and the Aegean Sea created a beautiful first chapter of their journey.

Before leaving Athens, we also had the pleasure of welcoming them to our office. We shared a few moments together and enjoyed getting to know them in person.

They were such a lovely group. It was a pleasure to see their excitement about Greece.

A Taste of Nemea and Nafplion

Their journey continued beyond Athens with a full-day excursion to Nemea and Nafplion.

First, they explored the famous wine region of Nemea. A traditional winery introduced them to local wines and the character of the region.

Wine tasting offered another delicious way to experience the Peloponnese.

Afterward, they continued to Nafplion.

The seaside town charmed them with its picturesque streets, beautiful architecture and relaxed atmosphere. It was a wonderful contrast to the ancient sights of Athens.

Soon after, they continued their journey toward the airport and flew to Crete.

Discovering Western Crete

Chania welcomed the group with a completely different atmosphere.

Their private tour introduced them to the city’s historic character and the beautiful countryside of western Crete. They explored Splantzia and enjoyed panoramic views from the Venizelos Tombs.

The journey continued to the Holy Trinity Monastery and the ancient ruins of Aptera. They then passed through the charming village of Vrysses.

Finally, Lake Kournas offered a peaceful change of scenery. As Crete’s only natural freshwater lake, it provided a relaxing stop surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

The day combined history, nature and local life without feeling rushed.

Wine, Olive Oil and Cretan Traditions

The following day focused on some of Crete’s most treasured traditions.

At Anoskeli Winery, they tasted local wine and olive oil alongside authentic Cretan delicacies. They also learned more about the island’s strong connection with olive cultivation.

Next came the Olive Tree Museum of Vouves. The ancient olive tree offered a fascinating glimpse into the importance of olive trees in Cretan life.

Their day continued at Gonia Monastery in Kolymbari. The peaceful setting added another cultural dimension to their experience.

Together, these stops created a wonderful day of flavors, traditions and stories.

From Chania to Heraklion

Their next journey took them across Crete toward Heraklion.

Along the way, they stopped in Rethymnon. The old town offered Venetian architecture, charming streets and plenty of atmosphere.

Then came one of Crete’s most famous archaeological sites: Knossos.

Exploring the Palace of Knossos gave the group an opportunity to step into the world of Minoan civilization.

Later, they continued through Heraklion before making their way to the port.

That evening, they boarded the ferry toward Santorini.

Santorini: Wine, Views and the Aegean

After several days of exploring Crete, Santorini brought a new chapter to their Greek adventure.

The group spent three nights on the island. Their sightseeing day combined famous landmarks with local flavors.

They began in Oia, where the famous blue-domed churches and Caldera views created one of Santorini’s classic scenes.

From there, they visited the Labyrinth Wine Museum. The underground setting made the wine tasting even more memorable.

They tasted local varieties and learned about Santorini’s unique winemaking traditions.

The journey continued to Black Beach and then to Prophet Elias Monastery. From the island’s highest point, they enjoyed sweeping views across Santorini and the Aegean Sea.

Finally, Megalochori offered a quieter side of the island. Its narrow lanes and traditional whitewashed buildings provided the perfect ending to their day.

A Sunset Cruise to Remember

No trip to Santorini feels quite complete without experiencing the island from the water.

For their final Santorini experience, the group joined a sunset catamaran cruise. They enjoyed time at sea, beautiful views and the changing colors of the sky.

As the sun slowly disappeared over the Aegean, the four friends could simply relax and enjoy the moment.

It was a fitting finale to a journey filled with Greek flavors, ancient history, Cretan traditions and unforgettable scenery.

One Last Night in Athens

After their time in Santorini, the group returned to Athens for one final night in Greece.

Instead of connecting directly from the island to their international flight, they enjoyed a relaxed evening back in the city.

This extra night also gave them a smoother transition to their journey home. There was no need to worry about making a tight island-to-international connection.

The following day, they continued to the airport for their international flight, taking with them wonderful memories from three very different parts of Greece.

A Journey Shared with Wonderful People

What made this trip particularly special was the group itself.

Sumathy, Geetha and their husbands brought warmth and enthusiasm to every experience. They embraced the food, the history, the landscapes and the slower moments along the way.

For us, travel is also about the connections made along the journey. Meeting wonderful travelers like them makes our work even more rewarding.

We are grateful to have been part of their Greek adventure. We hope Athens, Crete and Santorini will welcome them back again someday.

For years, a trip to Greece was often planned around a familiar list: see the Acropolis, spend a few days on an island, visit an ancient site, take some photographs, and move on to the next destination.

That kind of travel is still enjoyable, of course. Greece has no shortage of places that deserve to be seen. But something is changing in the way people travel. More visitors are looking beyond the famous landmarks and asking a different question: What can I actually experience here?

Instead of simply visiting a place, travelers increasingly want to understand it, taste it, meet its people, learn something new, and come home with memories connected to a particular moment rather than another photograph on their phone.

This shift is particularly interesting in Greece, where everyday life, food, traditions, landscapes, and local culture can be just as memorable as the country’s archaeological treasures.

From sightseeing to experiencing a destination

There is a difference between seeing Greece and experiencing Greece.

You can walk through the streets of Athens and see the Acropolis from almost every angle. But you can also spend an evening in a neighborhood taverna, order dishes you have never tried before, talk with the people at the next table, and discover how food and conversation shape everyday life.

You can visit a Greek island for its beaches. Or you can take a small boat out with a local skipper, swim in a quiet cove, learn about the coastline, and finish the day with a meal in a village where the pace of life has changed very little.

Neither approach is necessarily better. They simply create different kinds of travel memories.

The growing interest in experiences in Greece reflects a broader change in what travelers expect from a holiday. A destination is no longer just a collection of attractions to tick off a list. People increasingly want to participate in it.

Why experiences are becoming such an important part of travel

One reason is simple: travelers have become more curious.

Online guides and social media have made it easier than ever to know what a destination looks like before arriving. The Acropolis, Santorini’s caldera and Mykonos’ famous streets have been photographed countless times.

Knowing what a place looks like before you arrive changes the role of the journey itself.

The question becomes less about discovering a landmark for the first time and more about finding your own connection with the destination.

That might mean taking a cooking class in Crete, joining an olive oil tasting, walking through a mountain village, learning traditional crafts, sailing along a less-visited stretch of coastline, or spending an afternoon with a local producer.

These activities do something that sightseeing alone often cannot: they give travelers a story to tell.

Food is one of the easiest ways to experience Greece

Greek food has always been an important part of the country’s appeal, but travelers are increasingly interested in the stories behind what they eat.

A plate of moussaka in a restaurant is one thing. Learning how local ingredients are selected, visiting a market, preparing a traditional dish with someone who has cooked it for decades, and then sitting down to eat it is something else entirely.

Across Greece, food experiences can be remarkably different from one region to another.

Crete has its own culinary traditions and products. The Cyclades have their island ingredients and recipes. Northern Greece has influences that reflect its different history and geography. The Peloponnese has an abundance of olive oil, citrus, wine and other agricultural products.

For visitors, these differences create opportunities to explore Greece through taste rather than simply through sightseeing.

And often, food provides a natural introduction to local culture. A meal can lead to a conversation. A conversation can lead to a recommendation for a village, a beach, a festival or a small family-run business that never appeared on the original itinerary.

Experiences in Greece go beyond the islands

The popularity of the Greek islands can sometimes make it seem as though Greece begins and ends with the sea.

But some of the most interesting experiences in Greece can be found away from the country’s best-known island destinations.

The mainland offers mountains, forests, rivers, archaeological sites, traditional villages and landscapes that are very different from the postcard image of Greece.

Travelers can explore Zagori and its stone villages, hike in mountain areas, discover the Peloponnese by road, visit wineries, explore lesser-known archaeological sites, or spend time in northern Greece, where the landscape and cuisine offer a very different perspective on the country.

This is another reason experience-based travel is becoming more popular. It encourages visitors to look beyond the most recognizable destinations.

Instead of asking, “Which famous place should I visit?”, travelers are increasingly asking, “What can I do here that will help me understand this place?”

The appeal of meeting local people

Perhaps the most valuable part of an experience is the human element.

A monument can tell you something about history. A museum can provide context. A beautiful landscape can stay in your memory for years.

But meeting someone who lives in the destination can change the way you understand all three.

A local guide explaining the history of a neighborhood can point out details that a guidebook might overlook. A farmer can explain why a particular olive variety matters to the region. A fisherman can describe how the sea has shaped the community. A winemaker can explain why the landscape affects the grapes.

These encounters don’t need to be elaborate or staged. Sometimes a short conversation over coffee is enough to make a place feel more familiar.

That sense of connection is one of the reasons travelers remember experiences long after they have forgotten the names of individual sights.

A slower approach to Greek travel

Experience-based travel also fits naturally with the growing interest in slower tourism.

Instead of trying to visit five destinations in a week, some travelers are choosing to stay longer in one area and explore it properly.

They might spend several days in one village, rent a car and follow smaller roads, return to the same café, visit a local market, take a hike, and have enough time to change their plans when a local recommendation sounds interesting.

Greece is particularly well suited to this style of travel.

Its geography makes it possible to combine different experiences within relatively small areas. A day can begin with a swim and end in a mountain village. A city break can include food, history and contemporary culture. A stay in a rural area can combine hiking, local cuisine and visits to small producers.

The important part is leaving enough room in the itinerary for these experiences to happen.

Travelers want memories, not just photographs

There is nothing wrong with taking photographs. Greece is an exceptionally photogenic country, and its historic sites and landscapes are part of what makes it such a popular destination.

But photographs are increasingly only one part of the travel story.

People want to remember the taste of a meal they learned to cook. They want to remember the sound of a village square late at night. They want to remember swimming somewhere they reached by boat, learning about wine from a producer, walking through an unfamiliar landscape, or hearing a local story that changed how they looked at a place.

These memories are harder to reproduce because they belong to the traveler.

That is perhaps the biggest attraction of experience-based tourism: the experience cannot simply be copied from someone else’s itinerary.

What this means for the future of travel in Greece

As travelers become more interested in experiences, destinations and tourism businesses have an opportunity to offer something beyond conventional sightseeing.

That does not mean abandoning Greece’s famous landmarks. The Acropolis, ancient Olympia, Delphi, Knossos and countless other sites remain essential parts of the country’s cultural heritage.

Instead, they can become starting points.

After visiting an archaeological site, a traveler might explore the surrounding region, meet local producers, try regional food or follow a walking route that reveals another side of the area.

The future of travel may be less about choosing between sightseeing and experiences and more about combining them.

Visitors can come to Greece to see its famous places, but they can also stay long enough to understand something about the places they are visiting.

And that distinction matters.

Because years after a holiday ends, travelers may not remember every monument they photographed or every street they walked down. They are much more likely to remember the evening they sat around a table with strangers who became friends, the meal they learned to prepare, the road they took because a local recommended it, or the moment they realized that Greece was much more than the destination they had expected.

That is where the real value of experiences in Greece lies: not simply in doing more, but in experiencing a place more deeply.

For most visitors, Meteora starts with the monasteries. They are the defining sight of the region. Perched on enormous sandstone pillars, they create the landscape that has made Meteora famous.

The monasteries should be on your itinerary. However, they are not the only reason to stay in the area.

If you have the time, spending an extra night in Meteora opens up a different side of the destination. You can ride through oak forests, follow old paths, discover hidden hermit caves and explore small villages. There are also some excellent food experiences to enjoy.

This is where Meteora becomes more than a sightseeing stop.

The best tours in Meteora can take you away from the main visitor routes. Instead of moving from one famous viewpoint to another, you can explore the landscape itself. Forests, caves, trails and local food all become part of the experience.

Why stay an extra night in Meteora?

A typical visit to Meteora can feel surprisingly short. Many travellers arrive, visit one or two monasteries, stop at the main viewpoints and then continue to their next destination.

That works if you are passing through. A longer stay, however, gives you more time to experience the area.

An extra night allows you to choose an outdoor activity or a local food experience. You can also explore places that are easy to miss during a standard sightseeing day.

The surrounding landscape has much more to offer. There are forest trails, old paths, hermit caves and small villages to discover.

Here are some of the experiences worth adding to your itinerary.

1. Explore Meteora by electric buggy

An electric buggy tour is a good option if you want to cover more ground without taking on a demanding hike.

The experience combines some of Meteora’s best-known sights with lesser-known locations. With a guide, you can visit two active monasteries and explore the hidden hermit caves of Badovas.

The caves offer a different perspective on Meteora’s history. Long before the area became a major tourist destination, monks and hermits used these rocky shelters as places of retreat.

The tour also includes a short lunch break. Depending on the itinerary, this takes place in Vlachava or Kastraki village.

For visitors who want to combine sightseeing with a little adventure, the buggy tour works particularly well. You get to see the monasteries while also exploring the landscape around them.

Best for: couples, families, small groups and travellers who want an active experience without a strenuous hike.

2. Ride through the oak forest on an e-MTB

An e-MTB tour offers another way to explore the landscape around Meteora.

The route takes you through the area’s oak forests and along trails beneath the famous rock formations. Electric assistance makes the climbs more manageable. You can enjoy the terrain without needing the fitness level required for a traditional mountain-bike tour.

One of the highlights is the hidden Monastery of Ypapanti. The route also includes the emblematic statue of Euthimios Vlahavas.

The setting feels very different from the main monastery circuit. Instead of following the roads between major sights, you travel through woodland and trails.

This makes the e-MTB experience a good choice for travellers who want to spend their extra day outdoors.

Best for: active travellers, cyclists and anyone looking for a different perspective on Meteora.

3. Take an easy hike through Meteora’s older paths

You do not need to be an experienced hiker to explore Meteora on foot.

An easy hiking tour follows ancient paths through the landscape. Along the route, you can discover historical sites that are hidden from the main visitor routes.

The walk also takes you towards the church of Ypapanti. This lesser-known site adds another layer to the history of Meteora.

Walking also changes the way you see the famous rocks. From the road, the cliffs look dramatic. On foot, their scale becomes much more apparent.

The trail passes through the natural landscape around the rocks. It is suitable for families and travellers who prefer a relaxed outdoor activity.

Best for: families, casual hikers and visitors who want to explore Meteora at walking pace.

4. Go truffle hunting in the Meteora forest

Meteora’s landscape is not only something to admire. Its forests are also connected to a rich local food culture.

One of the more unusual Meteora experiences is a truffle-hunting excursion at the Museum of Natural History of Meteora and Mushroom Museum.

The experience begins in the forest. Specially trained truffle dogs help search for truffles beneath the trees.

After the hunt, you can enjoy a mushroom tasting. The experience ends with fresh truffle pasta cooked on site. Local wine accompanies the meal.

The activity offers a very different way to experience Meteora. Instead of simply photographing the landscape, you become part of it.

The experience also includes a visit and guided tour of the museum. This provides more information about the mushrooms and natural environment of the region.

For food-focused travellers, it is one of the most distinctive things to do in Meteora.

Best for: food lovers, families, couples and travellers looking for a local experience.

5. Try a private truffle hunt on horseback

There is also a premium version of the truffle-hunting experience.

A truffle hunt on horseback combines a gentle ride through the countryside with specially trained truffle dogs. The experience includes the main elements of the standard truffle hunt.

The activity is designed for private groups of up to 10 people. That makes it particularly suitable for families, friends or small groups travelling together.

The horseback ride is gentle. The main focus is on enjoying the landscape, discovering truffles and sharing the food experience afterwards.

It is a memorable option for visitors looking for something more private.

Best for: private groups, families and travellers celebrating a special occasion.

6. Experience Meteora after dark at the Museum

For an evening activity, consider visiting the Museum of Natural History of Meteora after normal opening hours.

The “Nights at the Museum” experience offers a different way to explore the museum. Special lighting, music and a dedicated guided tour create a completely different atmosphere.

The evening ends with a generous mushroom tasting. The selection features products from the museum.

This is an unusual addition to a Meteora itinerary. It also works well after a full day exploring the monasteries and surrounding landscape.

The experience gives you something to do after the main sightseeing hours. It is also a good choice if you want to learn more about the natural environment of the region.

Best for: couples, small groups and travellers looking for an evening experience beyond traditional sightseeing.

How to plan your extra night in Meteora

The easiest approach is to divide your time between the monasteries and the wider Meteora landscape.

Day 1: Visit the monasteries

Use your first day to see the monasteries. They are the main attraction and an essential part of any first visit to Meteora.

Depending on the opening days and your interests, choose two or three monasteries. This gives you enough time to explore without rushing.

You can also visit the main viewpoints during the same day. Leave some time to enjoy the scenery rather than trying to fit in every possible stop.

Day 2: Choose an experience beyond the main sights

Your second day can be more flexible.

The electric buggy tour is ideal if you want monasteries, caves and villages in one experience.

The e-MTB tour is better suited to active travellers who want to explore the oak forest.

An easy hiking tour offers a slower way to discover old paths and historical sites.

For food lovers, a truffle hunt provides a completely different experience. The private horseback option is worth considering for small groups.

You can also save the Nights at the Museum experience for the evening.

Explore the villages around Meteora

Kastraki and the surrounding villages are an important part of the Meteora experience.

They are more than places to stay between sightseeing stops. The villages provide a chance to enjoy local food, have a relaxed drink and experience the area at a slower pace.

Kastraki is particularly interesting because it sits directly beneath the Meteora rocks. The cliffs remain part of the view even when you are simply walking through the village or sitting down for a meal.

An extra night gives you time to enjoy these quieter moments. You do not have to spend every hour visiting another attraction.

Tours in Meteora beyond the monastery circuit

The monasteries will always be the centrepiece of a Meteora visit. They are the sites that made the region famous. They are also the reason many travellers add Meteora to their Greece itinerary.

Still, there is much more to explore.

The forests, caves, old paths, villages and local food reveal another side of the region. An electric buggy can take you towards places you might otherwise miss. An e-MTB lets you explore the forest from the saddle. A hike can lead you to historic sites away from the main roads.

Then there are the culinary experiences. A truffle hunt introduces you to the forests through local food. A museum evening offers a different way to spend time in Meteora after the main attractions close.

So, if your schedule allows it, stay one more night.

Visit the monasteries. Then give yourself time to discover what lies beyond them.

Meteora is not just a collection of monasteries on top of spectacular rocks. It is a landscape with its own trails, forests, villages, history and food traditions.

That is the side of Meteora you have more time to discover when you stay a little longer.

Ready to join the elite group of travelers discovering Greece on their own terms? We invite you to explore our bespoke travel packages for more inspiration.

Athens to Seattle flights are getting easier with Alaska Airlines launching a new nonstop route in May 2027. Here’s what travelers need to know.

Travel between Greece and the United States is about to become even more convenient.

For years, travelers flying from Athens to America have had a familiar selection of nonstop destinations, with New York traditionally at the center of the network. But the map is changing, and travelers heading west will soon have a new option.

From May 12, 2027, Alaska Airlines is scheduled to begin seasonal nonstop flights between Athens and Seattle, opening a direct connection between Greece and the Pacific Northwest for the first time.

For anyone planning a trip to Washington State, visiting family on the West Coast, or simply looking for a different way to begin an American adventure, this is welcome news.

A Direct Athens–Seattle Flight Is Coming

The new Athens to Seattle flight will operate three times per week during the seasonal service period, with Alaska Airlines using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

For passengers, the most obvious advantage is the ability to travel between Greece and Seattle without an intermediate stop.

That can make a significant difference on a long-haul journey. Instead of changing planes somewhere in Europe or on the US East Coast, travelers will be able to board in Athens and fly directly to Seattle.

And Seattle is much more than a destination for a city break.

The city is a natural gateway to the Pacific Northwest, putting travelers within reach of some of the most spectacular landscapes in the United States, from Washington’s mountains and forests to the Pacific coastline.

Why Seattle Is an Exciting New Destination From Greece

Seattle may not have traditionally been the first US city that Greeks think of when planning a trip to America, but that could change with the arrival of a nonstop flight.

The city has plenty to offer on its own, including its famous waterfront, Pike Place Market, museums, neighborhoods and views of the surrounding mountains.

But its biggest attraction for many travelers is what lies beyond the city.

Seattle is an excellent starting point for exploring the Pacific Northwest. Travelers can build road trips around destinations such as Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier and the San Juan Islands, or continue farther north toward the Canadian border.

For adventurous travelers from Greece, the new direct connection creates an entirely different kind of American holiday.

More Choices for Flights From Greece to the USA

The Seattle announcement is part of a broader trend.

Athens has developed a much stronger network of direct flights to the United States, giving travelers more options than in the past.

Depending on the season, passengers can find nonstop services from Athens to major American destinations including New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington, Philadelphia, Charlotte and Dallas.

This is important because the United States is not one single travel market. A visitor heading to New York has very different transportation needs from someone traveling to Texas, Georgia or the Pacific Northwest.

The expansion of direct routes means travelers can increasingly choose a flight based on where they actually want to go, rather than selecting a destination simply because it is the easiest American city to reach from Greece.

Dallas and Seattle Expand the Map Further

The arrival of Dallas in the Athens network during summer 2026 was another important step in connecting Greece with the United States.

Now Seattle is set to take the network even farther west.

Together, these routes give travelers more opportunities to reach different regions of America directly from Athens. For holidaymakers, that can mean less time spent connecting and more time at the destination.

It could also encourage travelers to discover parts of the US that may previously have required more complicated itineraries.

Good News for Greek-Americans Too

There is another side to the story that goes beyond tourism.

Thousands of people with Greek connections live across the United States, and direct air links make visiting friends and relatives considerably easier.

The Seattle route is particularly interesting for the Greek community in the Pacific Northwest. A nonstop connection to Athens means that visiting Greece can become a simpler journey, without the need to first travel through another major US or European airport.

The same applies in the opposite direction. Families and travelers in Greece will have a more convenient way to reach Seattle and the surrounding region.

What Travelers Should Know Before Planning Their Trip

The new route is scheduled to begin in May 2027, so travelers considering a Greece–USA trip should keep an eye on Alaska Airlines’ schedule as the launch date approaches.

Because the service is seasonal and operates several times a week rather than daily, flexibility with travel dates may be useful.

It is also worth looking beyond Seattle itself. With the city’s location and Alaska Airlines’ broader network, the new route could become a practical starting point for a much larger trip around the western United States.

A Bigger North American Map for Athens

The growth of direct flights between Greece and the USA is good news for travelers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Athens is no longer connected to America through only a handful of traditional gateways. The network is becoming broader, giving travelers access to more regions and making long-distance journeys easier to plan.

The upcoming Athens–Seattle nonstop flight is perhaps one of the most exciting additions yet. For Greeks dreaming of the Pacific Northwest, Americans planning a Mediterranean escape, and families divided between the two countries, a direct flight could make the distance between Greece and Seattle feel considerably smaller.

And for travelers who have already explored New York, Boston or Chicago, it may be the perfect excuse to discover a completely different side of the United States.

Ready to join the elite group of travelers discovering Greece on their own terms? We invite you to explore our bespoke travel packages for more inspiration.

For thousands of years, Homer’s Odyssey has inspired travellers, historians, and dreamers alike. Now, with the renewed global fascination sparked by the latest cinematic adaptation of the epic, more visitors than ever are looking beyond the movie screen to discover the landscapes that brought this legendary journey to life.

If you’ve ever imagined walking through ancient palaces, climbing mighty fortresses, standing on spectacular beaches, or exploring the places associated with one of the world’s greatest adventures, our Odyssey Itinerary offers an unforgettable way to experience Greece.

Unlike standard sightseeing tours, this carefully designed journey combines mythology, archaeology, breathtaking scenery, and authentic local experiences. Best of all, every itinerary is tailor-made to suit your interests, travel style, and pace.

Why Choose an Odyssey Itinerary?

The Odyssey is much more than an ancient poem. It is a story of adventure, resilience, discovery, and homecoming. Every destination on this itinerary allows travellers to connect with that timeless narrative while exploring some of Greece’s most remarkable historical sites.

The recent film adaptation has introduced Homer’s masterpiece to a new generation, showcasing the dramatic beauty of the Peloponnese and reminding audiences why these landscapes have captivated people for centuries.

Our Odyssey Itinerary takes you beyond the cinema, allowing you to experience the real locations that inspired mythology and, in many cases, served as stunning filming locations.

Rather than rushing from one destination to another, you’ll have time to immerse yourself in each place, discovering its stories, traditions, and spectacular scenery.

Walk Through the Birthplace of Western Civilization

Your journey begins in Athens, where ancient history comes alive beneath the shadow of the Acropolis.

Explore magnificent temples, stroll through the Ancient Agora where philosophers once debated, and experience the atmosphere of one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities.

Athens provides the perfect introduction before venturing into the landscapes of the Peloponnese, where myth and history become inseparable.

Discover the Legendary Kingdoms of Ancient Greece

Leaving Athens behind, the journey continues into the heart of the Peloponnese.

Visit Ancient Corinth and climb the impressive Acrocorinth fortress, offering panoramic views across two seas.

Continue to the elegant town of Nafplio, one of Greece’s most beautiful coastal destinations, where Venetian architecture, charming squares, and waterfront cafés provide the perfect setting to relax after a day of exploration.

Nearby lies Mycenae, one of the greatest archaeological sites in Europe.

Walking through the famous Lion Gate and entering the monumental Treasury of Atreus offers an extraordinary glimpse into the civilization that flourished during the era traditionally associated with Homeric heroes.

At Epidaurus, visitors discover one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in the world, celebrated for its remarkable acoustics and timeless beauty.

Explore the Land of King Nestor

For many travellers, the highlight of our Odyssey Itinerary is the region around Pylos.

This peaceful corner of the Peloponnese is home to the magnificent Palace of Nestor, one of the best-preserved Mycenaean palaces ever discovered.

Walking along the elevated pathways above the excavated palace allows visitors to imagine life during the Late Bronze Age while learning about one of Homer’s wisest kings.

Unlike many archaeological sites, the Palace of Nestor offers an intimate experience where visitors can appreciate both the historical importance and the surrounding natural beauty.

Visit One of Greece’s Most Spectacular Beaches

No Odyssey Itinerary would be complete without visiting the iconic Voidokilia Beach.

Its perfect horseshoe-shaped bay has become one of the most photographed beaches in Greece and recently gained international attention through its appearance in the latest film adaptation of The Odyssey.

But this is far more than simply a beautiful beach.

A short hike leads to the legendary Cave of Nestor, traditionally associated with Homer’s epic. Standing at the cave entrance overlooking the turquoise waters below creates one of the most memorable moments of the entire journey.

Whether you’re interested in mythology, photography, hiking, or simply enjoying Greece’s stunning coastline, this experience perfectly combines all four.

Medieval Castles and Coastal Beauty

The adventure continues through the historic castles of Methoni and Koroni.

These impressive Venetian fortresses stand as reminders that Greece’s history extends far beyond the ancient world.

Walk through massive stone gateways, explore defensive walls overlooking the sea, and admire breathtaking coastal scenery that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

These quieter locations offer a peaceful contrast to the more famous archaeological sites while providing exceptional opportunities for photography and cultural discovery.

More Than a Tour – A Tailor-Made Journey

Every traveller is different.

Some guests are passionate about archaeology.

Others want to focus on the filming locations.

Many simply wish to enjoy authentic Greek culture, local cuisine, picturesque villages, and spectacular landscapes.

That is why every Odyssey Itinerary we create is completely tailor-made.

Whether you prefer luxury accommodation, boutique hotels, private guided tours, relaxed driving days, or additional experiences such as wine tasting, cooking classes, sailing excursions, or hiking, we can adapt every aspect of the itinerary to match your interests.

Families, couples, solo travellers, history enthusiasts, photographers, and film lovers can all enjoy a personalised version of this unforgettable journey.

Experience Greece Beyond the Guidebooks

One of the greatest advantages of travelling through the Peloponnese is its authenticity.

Unlike some of Greece’s busiest destinations, this region allows visitors to experience traditional villages, family-run tavernas, welcoming local communities, and peaceful landscapes that remain largely untouched by mass tourism.

Instead of simply ticking famous monuments off a list, you’ll enjoy meaningful experiences that create lasting memories.

Taste regional olive oil and wines.

Watch unforgettable sunsets over the Ionian Sea.

Walk through ancient palaces where kings once ruled.

Stand inside medieval castles overlooking the Mediterranean.

Swim in crystal-clear waters beneath dramatic limestone cliffs.

Every day offers something different, yet every experience contributes to a deeper understanding of Greece’s remarkable cultural heritage.

Begin Your Own Odyssey

The enduring appeal of Homer’s masterpiece lies in its universal themes of adventure, perseverance, discovery, and the search for home.

Our Odyssey Itinerary transforms these timeless stories into an unforgettable travel experience through one of Greece’s most fascinating regions.

Whether inspired by ancient mythology, captivated by the recent film, or simply seeking an authentic journey through Greece’s history and landscapes, this itinerary offers something truly unique.

Rather than following a fixed schedule, we work closely with every traveller to create a personalised itinerary that reflects individual interests, travel style, and expectations.

Because no two journeys are ever the same.

Your Odyssey should be as unique as you are.
